Anxiety Therapy in Victoria, BC

If constant worry, physical tension, and fear of judgment are running your life, you're not broken. Your nervous system learned these responses for a reason—and we can work with what's actually creating them.

What You're Experiencing vs. What's Driving It

You're dealing with panic attacks, constant worry, physical tension, or fear that keeps you from showing up fully. Maybe you replay conversations looking for mistakes. Maybe you catastrophize about the future. Maybe your heart races in situations that objectively aren't dangerous.

Those are symptoms. What's usually driving them:

  • Insecurity—the belief that you're not enough, that you'll be judged, rejected, or exposed.

  • Learned hypervigilance—your nervous system learned to scan for danger as a survival strategy. It's still running that program.

  • Fear of judgment—early experiences taught you that being yourself isn't safe.

These aren't character flaws. They're adaptive responses that once protected you but now limit you. And they live in your nervous system, not your conscious thoughts. That's why understanding anxiety doesn't stop it from happening.

How Experiential Therapy Works for Anxiety

Traditional anxiety therapy focuses on managing symptoms—breathing exercises, thought challenging, exposure hierarchies. Those can help, but they don't change what's creating the anxiety in the first place.

Experiential therapy works where anxiety actually lives—in your emotional memory and nervous system. We don't just talk about your anxiety. We work with it as it shows up.

This looks like tracking sensations in your body when anxiety arises and learning what they're communicating. Working with the younger parts of you that learned fear responses, updating those beliefs at the level they were encoded. Creating corrective emotional experiences that teach your nervous system safety. Identifying and shifting the insecurity or relational wounds driving the worry.

The methods I use—AEDP, Coherence Therapy, IFS, somatic work—all share this: they engage your body and emotions, not just your thoughts.

You won't just understand why you're anxious. You'll feel different responses emerging. That's the difference between insight and transformation.

This Approach Works Best If:

✓ You've tried CBT or talk therapy and still feel anxious

✓ You understand your anxiety intellectually but can't stop the physical responses

✓ You're high-functioning but exhausted from constant internal monitoring

✓ You want to address what's creating the anxiety, not just manage it

✓ You're ready for depth work that goes beyond coping strategies

This May Not Be Right If:

– You're looking for quick symptom relief only

– You want homework and worksheets rather than experiential work

– You prefer therapy that stays at the cognitive level

– You need immediate crisis support (I work with people who are stable but stuck)
